The origins, vision and mission of Umoja wa Maendeleo wa Mlawa–Walukolo.
Umoja wa Maendeleo wa Mlawa–Walukolo (UMMWA) is a union conceived and voluntarily established by family members, siblings and relatives descended from Mlawa Kinyogoli of Marumbo Village, Kisarawe District, Coast Region.
UMMWA's central purpose is to design and operate a range of economic and social activities for the benefit and prosperity of its members and the community as a whole.
UMMWA was officially established on 1 October 2023 by 20 founding members, who believe that "Unity is Strength" and that "Division is Weakness".
Family members and relatives of Mlawa Kinyogoli begin discussions on forming a formal union for mutual support and the development of the family and Marumbo Village.
Twenty founding members sign the Constitution, formally establishing Umoja wa Maendeleo wa Mlawa–Walukolo.
The Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, Secretariat and the Planning, Finance, Ethics and Mobilisation committees begin their work.
The union begins mobilising resources and designing economic and social projects for members and the community.
UMMWA continues expanding its projects, building member capacity and partnering with development stakeholders at home and abroad.
